Carrie Westwater The Othering Museum A Case for Non-Selective Curation This book will be divided into two parts, beginning with this introduction which will give a brief discussion on how this book came about and introduce the theoretical beginnings by looking at the power of language in museum participatory practice, through the lens of Bernadette Lynch (2011). This section will also identify the key issues, again theoretically, around othering, power and what makes working in a participatory manner challenging in a museum and other settings.
