Video # 55 - Learning Positional Words in Spanish and in English
In this video you see twenty-five English Language Learners that are in the first grade. Their native language is Spanish, with ninety-five percent of the students being second generation in the U.S., and five percent of them from Mexico. The teacher is providing cultural appropriateness of the resources by teaching with visual aids in learning the English language. The teacher’s instructional strategy is also appropriate because she is speaking to the students in their native language first, then teaching them the English word. The teacher is also supporting her strategy by having the students verbally repeat the English word.
